Yesterday, on World Stroke Day we had the honour to be featured by the European Health and Digital Agency (HaDEA) LinkedIn page. Every year on 29 October, serves as a day to raise awareness for stroke symptom, prevention, and treatment. In the European Union alone over 1 million people suffer a stroke each year. With stroke “time is brain” and you need to act fast. Treatment needs to begin fast to limit long-term neurological damage.

So, on World Stroke Day we are proud to highlight our work in the VALIDATE-project which aims to validate advanced AI models for application in acute ischemic stroke situations. Current treatment methods work well, but an accurate assessment of treatment alternatives is challenging. This is why VALIDATE aims to develop trustworthy AI that can provide additional datapoints (i.e. a risk assessment) to facilitate the clinician’s decision-making on different treatment options. Our partner IBM iX has developed a user-friendly app that can help clinicians choose the treatment method with the best 3-month recovery outcome for their patient. We are excited to see how our work in VALIDATE will transform stroke care by applying AI innovations.
